Refrigerated Air and Other Ways to Stay Cool This Upcoming Summer

Air Conditioning Installation, Repair, Service & Maintenance

Last summer in El Paso, we experienced triple-digit temperatures that surpassed 110 degrees Fahrenheit. At this high of a temperature, being outside even for just a couple of minutes can be dangerous. During the summer, especially ones spent in the desert, you should take the necessary precautions to stay cool, hydrated, happy, and healthy.

At Barrett Airworks Services, we're in the business of keeping you cool. We believe that everyone deserves an air conditioner that gets the job done all summer long. But we also know that in addition to having good air conditioning, there are other ways you can stay cool and precautions you can take to stay safe all summer long.

Here are five ways to do so.

#1: Stay Hydrated

Drinking enough water is single-handedly one of the best things you can do, not just during the summer but all year long. During the summer, it's essential to drink water to stay hydrated, which helps keep your body temperature low even when the temperature outside rises to dangerous levels. Be sure to drink plenty of fluids, especially if you plan on spending a lot of time outdoors during the summer.

#2: Wear Sunblock

Our body temperatures can rise when we're not properly protected. By wearing sunscreen, we can better protect our body from sunburn, which in turn can help keep you cooler while also protecting you from harmful skin issues and cancers caused by excess sunburn. Be sure to always lather up before spending a lot of time outdoors.

#3: Dress for the Occasion

The hotter it gets, the smarter you should dress. Looser fitting clothing will help to keep you more comfortable and you'll want to avoid too many layers. Dress for the heat but also put sunscreen on the parts of your skin that are exposed.

#4: Use an Umbrella

It's also a good idea to carry an umbrella with you. Umbrellas can provide great protection from the su and are a good idea to use when walking outside. Be sure to keep one on you!

#5: Upgrade to Refrigerated Air

Lastly, upgrade to refrigerated air! Swamp coolers have time and time again failed to keep the El Paso community adequately cool during El Paso's hottest days. By upgrading to refrigerated air, you can stay cool all summer long!
